Thanks for posting this. Anyone know why Flake didn't vote? I thought he was a sure thing to vote against this bill.
Haven't heard. Maybe didn't want to be on the wrong side. That screams spineless if that's the case.
Thanks for sharing this. Shame on the 8 turncoat Republicans. Congrats to the 44 right-thinking Dems.
Thanks B&G this is great info. As for Flake, I guess he flaked out. Not the bill to sit out on. He could have at least taken a lesson from our fearless leader and voted "present".
RK -- We do have to tip our hats to the members of the House who voted "nay" no matter what party they belong to. Those are the ones who actually listened to the American people.
Spinster -- I don't know what happened with Jeff Flake. And you're right...not the vote to sit out on. Sounds like he just didn't want to have anything dangling over his head come election time. What a wuss!!
I contacted Jeff Flake's office and the folks there indicated that he was away from Washington on a "family matter." Since the vote was steamrolled through so quickly, with only 5 hours of debate, Flake could not get back to Washington in time to vote. He was adamantly opposed to the bill.
Excellent work, soldier! Now all we have to do is work on the members of the Senate. I've already started my drive for a Murtha-free district.
