Netanyahu Caves to U.S. Pressure

Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanya...Image via Wikipedia

Break out the duct tape, folks. I thought this was just MSM spin on msn.com, but after checking foxnews.com, it appears Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, has called for the creation of a Palestinian state amid mounting pressure from the Obamarx administration.

In a speech in Vienna, Bibi did put stipulations on the move. He said that the Palestinian refugees would have to give up the idea of returning to Israel and recognize Israel as a state.

With those conditions, he said, he could accept "a demilitarized Palestinian state alongside the Jewish state."

The West Bank-based Palestinian government dismissed the proposal.

How sad that it has come to this. Netanyahu had two options:

  1. Refuse to call for a Palestinian state. This would mean that the backing of the U.S. in a conflict would be iffy. Thanks, Barry!
  2. Call for the formation of a Palestinian state. Bibi did the right thing by attaching conditions to his acceptance of Palestine. This way, he can honestly say to Obama "I did what you wanted.", but on Bibi's own terms. Brilliant!
It is a shame that the state of Israel was put in the position of standing on principle or losing U.S. support if needed. I guess Barry has gotten brave enough to start strong-arming other nations and not just his own citizens.
