Patrick Kennedy Back in Rehab

Color Martini: "Maya's drink (at Tokyo Go...

Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) has reportedly returned to rehab for alcohol abuse. A Kennedy needing rehab? Do tell!

Kennedy went to rehab in 2006 after he crashed his SUV into a barrier at the Capitol. At least he didn't drive off a bridge with a passenger inside like another member of the Kennedy clan.

"I have decided to temporarily step away from my normal routine to ensure that I am being as vigilant as possible in my recovery,'' said Kennedy, who didn't disclose the location of his treatment.

Kennedy has advocated for mental health programs after publicly admitting he struggles with bipolar disorder. While I'm not very familiar with bipolar, I do know that if he is on medication for a mental disorder, he should NOT be drinking. It could be a lethal cocktail. I take meds for panic disorder, and even two mixed drinks made me violently ill.

I hope the rehab center has a revolving door; he'll be back.

Considering I used to do drugs heavily, I don't wish problems like that on anyone. THere are some that are better left alone. THe best thing you can do is pray for his recovery. THis is what makes us different from the communists hate mongers that get off on seeing people go down however possible. We are better than that right?I know you are younger and gung ho and I that's great, but this accomplishes nothijng, it doesn't get our message out and it lowers us in action to the KOS and MSNBC. Don't worry, you are still in good standing with me. you are just learning the ropes and which ones are best not crossed. Ask yourself this, would Glen Beck be saying this? NO because he is an alcoholic and addict. We are the good guys. we don't revel in others' misery.

I take xanax because of all the other post concussion meds that I need to jumpstart my brain, there are times that I flash back to hurricane Ivan (cat 4 with 135 sustained winds). Barometric pressure was so low it damaged my eardrums permanently. I misunderstood your post. I thought you were having l laugh at his expense. After reading you post again, I realize I was wrong. PLease accept my apology I refuse to take any other anxiety meds like zoloft or effexor. My ex fiance tried to commit suicide on those.

No offense taken, Andrew. Living with panic disorder is no picnic, and I would never belittle anyone who is living with a serious medical disorder. I'm glad you were gentleman enough to reread my post. My concern is that some people on anti-anxiety meds still continue to mix alcohol with the medication. Like I said, it could be a lethal tragedy that wouldn't have to happen. Thanks for making sure I'm not stepping over a line best left alone.

hile I don't touch alcohol or tobacco, I have to take stimulants just to make my brain work, pain meds (strong kind) for my back and neck and then anxiety meds too. I walk the line every day. I have to or I'd be a vegetable. Throwing alcohol which doesnt come measured in doses like meds do is CRAZY. Even now, I'm not the most stable person but I have found a balance where I can be functional enough to blog, work on music and do landscape design. 2 Years ago I couldn't remember my parent's names.

I'm glad you've come so far. I'll continue to pray that you continue to do so.
