Things I've Learned As I Age

I'm probably not going to be posting much this weekend. Not only is my dance card full on many levels, but I'm reaching another crossroad: my 43rd birthday.

As I age, I seem to notice some things about myself that I'd never thought I'd notice. I've grown intellectually (thanks to a lot of great bloggers out there), but it's the physical changes that trouble me the most.

Here are some of the bits of wisdom I've acquired over the past few years:
  1. Gravity is not my friend, and the amount my boobs sag is directly proportional to the increase of gravity that seems to occur every year.
  2. Doing the "Hoedown Throwdown" (from the Hannah Montana movie) with a bunch of nine and ten-year-old cheerleaders will cause my knees to ache for two days.
  3. Digestive changes have taught me that I can no longer go directly from eating lunch to riding rides that spin a lot.
  4. My bladder doesn't like the trampoline. Jump, jump, pee...jump, jump, pee...
  5. Despite what I thought in my younger years, gray hair is not attractive. (Stock tip: Miss Clairol)
  6. Sex is awesome after 40.
  7. Rand-McNally has taken charge of my legs.
  8. Sleep is an infrequent luxury.
  9. My back no longer bends as far as it used to, and my chiropractor is my friend.
  10. No matter how many lunges I do, I still have buns of mush.
While I've come to realize this and so much more, the most important thing I've noticed is just how many great people are out there in the blogosphere. And I thank each of you deeply for being a part of my life. I'm blessed.

I'm easily titillated by suggestive phrases. The newest is now "buns of mush".

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! BOF!
I did not know it was today?
You should have emailed me. I was out all day celebrating the Olympic fail! Just did a fun post about it.....well, add to the good news,
This makes the day even better!

I hope you enjoy your day and have wonderful gifts and are pampered....don't do the hoedown throwdown...hee hee. That sounds like something michelle and oprah are going to do on the plane riding home from copenhagen...ha ha.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY< the Squirrels send their love and presents.

Nickie: Remember where you first heard it. :-)

BOF: I don't make a big deal out of my birthday. Presents? Only if I buy myself something. I really don't get pissy about it.

Hope you had a great time celebrating. KO in Round 1!

Thanks for the mental picture. Now when I'm practicing with the girls, I'll be thinking of Mobama and Orca..I mean Oprah.

*sending much love to Chitown for my troops and BOF*

Sheesh.. Thanks for dragging me down..

I hit 43 in January, and while I don't quite have "buns of mush" I certainly feel gravity and gray taking effect..

Happy Birthday...??

Soloman: So sorry to be a downer. I don't know whether the "buns of mush" come from genetics or just being a woman who has had 3 kids, but DAMN I wish I could get rid of the junk in my trunk!

And it is perfectly fine to say "Happy Birthday". Thanks, hon. :-)

Pedaling: I've wanted one for years. Nothing Pam Anderson-esque, just a little more shape on top. I bet my husband wouldn't regret it either! :-)
