Victim #14
In all the memorials concerning the victims of the Fort Hood masscre, it struck me that there seems to be no mention of the 14th victim. No, I'm not calling that scumbag, Hasan, a victim. Yinz should know me better than that.
Last Thursday, Private Francheska Velez, 21, had the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Pvt. Velez had served in Iraq and had just returned to Fort Hood to await a trip back to her native Chicago. The trip was only weeks away, but Velez was not to make the trip because a nutjob who put being a Muslim before being an American decided to commit the worst act of TERRORISM on American soil since 9/11. Pvt. Velez was three months pregnant and on maternity leave.
Why hasn't anyone in the media, including Fox, mentioned the 14th victim, namely Velez's unborn baby? That's right. Baby. Not "fetus," not "cluster of cells," but "BABY."
In the aftermath of such a tragedy, it is easy to overlook some details. We become focused on the causes of such an incident, motives, and "what went wrong." But we cannot forget that 14 lives were taken that day, not 13. If we were to forget, it takes away from the value we conservatives place on unborn life.
From now on, I am asking all of my fellow bloggers to list the death toll at Fort Hood as 14. The choice is yours, and I will still love and respect all of you, but let's remember the most innocent of all the lives taken that day. I thank you in advance.

Absolutely right.
Yeah, what's up with that. The media used to love stories like that. It added a human side to the tragedy, not they won't even report the basics of it.
There was "mention", but you're right. The count stayed at 13.
KOOK: That was the most innocent of all the lives lost that day.
BB: If the media were to admit that the unborn baby was the 14th victim, their abortion argument goes right down the crapper.
Odie: As I told BB, if they acknowledged the unborn baby as #14, their abortion arguments are toast.
13+1
Brava, Denise.

There was a time when they would have reported this. You are right.
