Withdrawal: I'm Having Issues!!!

This is making me crazy. I've been suffering from withdrawal symptoms for what is the beginning of a second week, but now it is reaching a fever pitch. I'm extremely cranky, the family is cowering in fear, and the general public is not safe. No, I'm not trying to quit smoking. I'm having Steelers bye week withdrawal, and it's really not pretty.

I honestly hate bye weeks. From the time training camp starts to the end of the season, my Sundays are booked. I do get a few off due to Monday or Thursday night games, but Sundays are what I anticipate all week. On a bye week, I have no clue what to do with my day. It's like my whole mojo is disturbed.

Thankfully, I've got all six Super Bowl wins on DVD. It may be the only thing to get me through. To see all the greats play again--Lambert, Bradshaw, Harris, Bleier, Swann, and crew--is just what the doctor ordered.

How great those old games are to watch for any football fan. The caliber of player back in my childhood is much different than today's professional football player. Back then, they played with broken bones, concussions, and a variety of ailments. In short, you had to be on your deathbed to not play.

The rules in today's league have changed so much that most players of the 70's and 80's would be getting fined every week by the NFL. Could you imagine the uproar if Jack Lambert played under today's rules? The man was an animal on the field back in his heyday. Today's NFL rules would've neutered him. While I understand the need for rules, let's get real. Penalized for celebrating a touchdown or throwing a kid in the stands a football??? In a lot of ways, the NFL has been sissified.

Tonight, I think I'll start my intense withdrawal therapy in hopes of easing my anxiety. I just hope that the family doesn't interrupt my sessions. It could get ugly.

Hey Fan,

I'm a 49er fan and I went through it a couple of weeks ago. I know what you mean about the old Super Bowls. I long for good old Joe and Jerry myself. I feel your pain.

Odie: Those were so much more fun to watch. It was for the love of the game back then.

Hubby got smart and went to bed already. Sad that he left the kids up to deal with me. lol

We had the bye last week, too and I feel your pain.

By the way, WHO are you going to be rooting for this Sunday...us or the Ravens...I assume the Ravens since we are tied with you for first place.

See you in 2 weeks!

I was camping last weekend with the family. There was a time when I would of packed them up early to get home for kickoff. This week we stayed late. No loss. I figured when they ousted Rush because of his Right slant, they tagged me also. My money is hard earned and I at least for now have some direction of where I direct it. And it's not going to be towards billion dollar progressives.

Sue: I'll be rooting for the Cats. I rooted for the Ravens last week only 'cuz I wanted the Broncos to lose in the worst way. Told my son that was the ONLY time we were going to root for Baltimore, and I meant it. The Ravens make me ill.

Rattler: I hear ya, pal. They didn't want Rush, but they'll keep J. Lo (snobby beotch) and Fergie on as owners? Something just isn't right.

Ya knows I luvs ya, but...

What really pains me (for your sake) is that after a bye week you're going to have to wait all the way until Monday night, and even then most of the night you'll be seeing plays that look like this!

LMAO!!! How did I know you'd be over, Soloman???

I think yinz will be looking like this: http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:-zhUzK5eUR5RtM:http://broncotalk.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/jaycutler_finger.jpg

If Denver wins Monday night, I will actually change my profile pic to the Broncos logo for the entire day on Tuesday. Do I hear a friendly wager??? :-D

First, I gotta tell you, that's weak. Can't even find a pic of our current QB, who actually does have a finger injury of his own?? Here, let me be a good sport and help you out.

I'll gladly wager..

If you haven't noticed yet, I've been changing my sub-header text roughly every other day and putting in good quotes - most from Founders, although currently it's Jim Morrison (yet very worthy!)

Should the Steelers get so lucky... and I do mean lucky...

I'll put up the statement "Steelers spank Bron..." (can't actually do it yet, that'd be a jinx) with the score following. I'll post it after the game and take it down Wednesday morning.

Seems more than generous.. whadda ya think?

You are so on, pal!!!

Nothing wrong with Jim Morrison. Love the music...a little too freaky as a person. But, hey..it was the 60's. Everyone was freaky.

I only picked that image because Cutler looked soooo pathetic. That pic could've been captioned "DAMN!"

Game on, lady.. can't wait to see you sporting that broncos logo!!

And regarding your reply in the other thread.. I feel for you with the Pirates thing. What a storied history... gone farm team at best.

Hey.. I'm an Indians fan, if it helps you any.

Granted we had a nice run in the 90's but now look at the winning teams and they're all filled with former Tribe players, including both starters of game 1 of the series this year - Cliff Lee (Phillies) and C.C. Sabathia (Yankees).

At least the Tribe didn't go 17 straight seasons with a losing record every year. The Pirates at least claimed THAT record!
