While listening to
Quinn and Rose the other morning, a caller mentioned this, and curiosity got the best of me. I just had to see what was up.
The caller mentioned that country music star Toby Keith played in Oslo during the celebration of BHO's receipt of the Nobel Peace Prize. I, at first, thought, "This is just a vicious rumor. Toby Keith's music is as American as it gets." Well, dear reader, it's not a rumor. Toby played at a concert to "...celebrate this year's Nobel Peace Prize laureate." (From the official
Nobel Peace Prize website)
The event was hosted by Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. The concert also saw performances by a myriad of entertainers, including Wyclef Jean and Donna Summer.
Let's face facts. Toby Keith isn't exactly hurting for money, so that can't be the reason he went to Oslo to perform. He did perform his latest single, 'American Ride,' a song that makes one feel patriotic despite all the crap we're dealing with from this president. So what would compel Toby to perform at a concert to celebrate the president who has done more to ruin this country of late than Carter did in four years? I'm still clueless. Anyone have an idea?
I have to say that I'm not sure what the true story is. On one hand, Toby sings America's praises in songs like 'American Ride' and 'Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue' while, on the other hand, praising the man who represents everything America is not. Which is it, Toby? There is no middle ground. You either believe in the principles this country was founded on or you don't. Period.
What Toby and other celebs fail to realize is that I want to be entertained, not given their respective political ideologies. Toby Keith says one thing and, in his actions, does another. What's the word for that? Oh yeah....HYPOCRISY!!!
Maybe I'm reading something into this that isn't there, but it sure seems that Toby Keith needs to pick a side. America or BHO.

Well,..you can cross Toby Keith off my nice list,..what a shame. Oh, and by the way,..guess who is going to guest star on the Food Network Channel come January 3rd? Mrs. Prez,.ewwwwwwww!
Good morning, mommie!!!
I agree. Lump of coal for Toby!
What's Mobama gonna cook? Sewage-laden vegetables from her garden?
TK is one of my favorite musicians. That being said he is a bit of a hippy. He is pro america and pro troops, but he was nearly as bad as some others regarding Bush toward the end. He had a major spat with the Dixie Chicks which I alwasys thought was more for publicity of both parties than anything else. Toby was a roughneck oil driller; but I think his time around all the "artistes" has liberalized his views, plus god love him, he is a pothead.
I would peg him as a patriotic moderate, who thinks its cool that a pothead is president.
You want someone who is true blue americana to the core: Trace Adkins. Plus he is country music's answer to 50 cent.
I blogged about this a few days ago. I am very disappointed. I really thought Toby was a real cowboy that cared about America the way it was intended. I was shocked to see he all but joined the Dixie Chicks in Oslo.
Just suppose Toby wanted to make sure the "REAL AMERICA" was represented there ... just a thought.
KOOK: I love Trace! Especially his voice. And, in seeing him in interviews, is not one to apologize for anything un-American.
Merry Christmas, hon!
BB: You must've snuck it in under my radar. Not that I've been able to track much lately, but...
I did think about the whole Dixie Chicks thing, but Toby didn't slam the president like they did. He did just the opposite. My beef is the hypocrisy. It makes me ill.
Odie: I considered that, my friend. But then I realized that he also attended the afterparty and BHO's speech. If I wanted to show the real America, I'd do it in a venue near the NPP concert. To sit in the audience during the speech and attend the afterparty while dissing BHO in his video for 'American Ride' screams two-faced. Maybe it's just me.
(((Odie)))
Hey girl. Mobama isn't doing the cooking,.but the WH chef and Bobby Flay are going up against chef Batali and another chef in some sort of match-up and Mobama's going to be there.
Say it ain't so, Toby!!! One of my personal faves- now I must re-think that.
Just thought I'd drop in and let you know I did a little searching, and found out a couple of things.
First - he's completely unapologetic to Norwegians and any other leftists who take issue with his pro-America stance, as described on cmt.com here.
Next, it seems he was already in the region touring, as described here.
And to add my opinion - he played a show, it really has nothing to do with celebrating Obama. I don't like him either, but he is our POTUS, and for someone who is on the opposite end of politics at heart (as I figure Keith to be) to represent America's solidarity is a good thing.
Look at it this way - it makes him look like a good man, as opposed to those bitched in the Dixie Chicks who went overseas and made crappy remarks about Bush. We need people with common sense to show that we have common sense, and I think that's what Keith did here. Kinda like what Odie said.
I'm okay with it..
Anyway, those are my thoughts.
