Cash for Clunkers Passes

This just sucks! As if the government isn't taking enough of our money, they're now poised to issue vouchers for the new government cars. After being attached to a war spending bill, it now goes to Barry's desk for approval. What do you think he's gonna do? If you said "Put the taxpayers further in debt.", go to the head of the class.

For those of you who may not know what "Cash for Clunkers" is, car owners could get a voucher worth $3,500 if they traded in a vehicle getting 18 miles per gallon or less for one getting at least 22 mpg. The value of the voucher would grow to $4,500 if the mileage of the new car was 10 mpg higher than the old vehicle. The miles per gallon figures are listed on the car window's sticker.

Owners of sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks or minivans that get 18 mpg or less could receive a voucher for $3,500 if their new truck or SUV got at least 2 mpg higher than their old vehicle. The voucher would increase to $4,500 if the mileage of the new truck or SUV was at least 5 mpg higher than the older vehicle.

You want to conserve this nation's energy and be less dependent on foreign oil? I have an idea: DRILL!!! Screw the environmentalists, the polar bears, the caribou, and OPEC nations.

I have posed this question before but haven't gotten any theories. When the welfare class trades in their 1983 Dodge Aries K for a voucher toward the purchase of a new car, who's going to pay the balance left on the loan? I guess Obama will just bail them out, too. The lack of logic is mind-blowing. And who's going to pay the insurance and registration on their new cars? You guessed it...us honest taxpayers. It hasn't been said, but mark my words: it'll happen.

At what point does the American taxpayer get a break? Let us dictate what we do with our money, Barry. And, no, we don't approve of you throwing lavish parties on our dime. You are a disgrace to the office you hold, even though I believe you are ineligible to hold it in the first place.

Think I'll go fire up the Mustang with a 351 Windsor under the hood. Wish I could go do donuts at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Leave it to the government to pay $4000 for a car that's worth less than $500.

One of the truest oxymorons I know of: government intelligence.

I just bought a roll of duct tape. If you need any, let me know! ;-)
