Kanye West: Turd du Jour

I don't watch MTV anymore. I grew up in the fledgling years of the network. You know, when they actually played MUSIC. Now, it's nothing more than reality-television garbage. I caught this when I woke up and read foxnews.com this morning.

Last night, on the MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West demonstrated what a piece of work he is by causing a VERY awkward moment when Taylor Swift was accepting her award for Best Female Video. "You Belong With Me" snagged Taylor her first VMA, topping such hits as "Single Ladies", "So What", and "Hot and Cold".

Here's what happened:

Was Mr. West not taught any manners by his late mother? She was probably itching to come down and give her son a swift kick in the behind.

I feel badly for two people: Taylor Swift and Beyonce. Taylor had what was supposed to be a very happy moment ruined by an entitlement-minded street thug, and Beyonce was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire. I will salute Ms. Knowles, however. She later gave her shining moment to Taylor after winning Video of the Year for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)". Beyonce won her first VMA at the age of 17 when she was with Destiny's Child.

"I remember how excited I was," she said. "I'd like Taylor to come out and have her moment."

Kanye later put an apology up on his blog. Had Mr. West had any sense of decorum, he wouldn't have had anything to apologize for.

"I'M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD'VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED!"

Later in the show, when the nominees for Best Male Video were being read, the crowd booed when Kanye's name was announced. He also addressed that on his blog.

"BEYONCE'S VIDEO WAS THE BEST OF THIS DECADE!!!! ... EVERYBODY WANNA BOOOOO ME BUT I'M A FAN OF REAL POP CULTURE!!! NO DISRESPECT BUT WE WATCHIN' THE SHOW AT THE CRIB RIGHT NOW CAUSE ... WELL YOU KNOW!!!! I'M STILL HAPPY FOR TAYLOR!!!! "

Mr. West: Define "real" pop culture because, personally, it sounds like that statement could have a racist undertone. When I hear it, I think you're just hacked off because a black woman didn't win. Since when does a country/pop crossover star not belong to "real"pop culture?

I applaud Taylor and Beyonce for their grace in a very awkward situation. Both young ladies showed more maturity than Kanye West will ever hope to have.

Hey Kanye! Hoped you enjoyed the ride because, after last night, it's almost over.

I really hate what pop music has become. It's a business of thugs and silly antics.

It's not about the music anymore, BB. It's now about being outrageous and marketing angles. Sad.

It's a culture that glorifies the "street pimp", the "street thug", the "street gang" and blatant racism tilted in the direction of black against white. As a result none of that has any credibility outside their own group of misfits.

LL: It's sad to see how they glorify the criminals. Why don't they promote honest, hard work?
