The events of today have left me with a difficult decision to make. Lemme 'splain.
I took Cheyenne to cathecism today. While I was gone, my husband gets a phone call from his cousin. "Do you guys want tickets to today's game? Dad and I can't go." Now mind you, today's game is against the Cleveland Browns, arch rivals of Pittsburgh for over 35 years, and the seats are the same awesome ones we had for the Tennessee game. 40-yard-line behind the Steeler bench. And yinz KNOW what a fanatic I am!!!
In what I can only assume was a suicidal moment, my husband declined. His reason was that he was going to help Noah work on a science project due WEDNESDAY. Actually, he later said he doesn't want to feel obligated to anyone by taking such things.
Needless to say, yinz can only imagine my reaction when I got home and found all of this out. Did you know it only takes 0.4 seconds for the bitch switch to turn on?
The ensuing argument centered around the fact that he didn't even grant me the courtesy of a phone call to see if I wanted to go with my friend from down the road. THAT pissed me off! He told me how childish I was being because (get ready for this)....IT'S ONLY A STUPID FOOTBALL GAME!!!! I'm surprised no one saw the mushroom cloud.
So here is what I need to know from my readers. Do I:
(a) beat him with a baseball bat
(b) smother him with a pillow
(c) go on strike when it comes to his needs
(d) all of the above
I'll be anxiously awaiting opinions!!!

give it up to him solid, cause he is concerned about your children's educational and spiritual needs. or not.
Hi Denise! This is distressing. I bet I can go from sweetness to Bitch in .03 seconds when something pisses me off....so I know how you feel.
I think you should do C "go on strike" FOR EVERYTHING....if you get my drift...hee hee.
This way, he will suffer longer, and you won't get arrested for assault and battery. You need cheering up...look at the kitty over my way, he has plenty of money to buy you the WHOLE FOOTBALL TEAM!
God Bless and enjoy it on TV with lots of refreshments. Go Steelers and Bears (tonight).
I'm impressed that your options don't include wasting expensive ammo.
Hmmmm...
(b). More sporting. Besides, (a) and (c) are just plain cruel, but then again, I'm a guy.
jsumm: If Noah's project had been due tomorrow, I would've been more sympathetic. Cheyenne was already done with cathecism, so that wasn't the issue.
The issue was his total disregard for whether I wanted to go or not and the totally stupid remark about it's just a game. For a Steeler fan, that's blasphemy.
In some ways, we're the stereotypical married couple in reverse.
Bunni: I'm kinda leaning toward a combo of (a) and (c). Beat him senseless then go on strike.
At least the Steelers spanked the Browns. WOO HOO!!!
Good luck to da Bears tonight!!
I say cut him off...it's legal.
Of course, I'll blame the Catholic Church. Had you not taken the child in for religious indoctrination you would have intercepted the call yourself. See? It's the Pope....he hates football. LOL
Ran: If a guy thinks (a) and (c) are cruel, then that must be the way to go. lol
Steve: Damn! I never would've suspected. Since I can't cut off the pope, I'll have to cut off the hubby.
While (a) may be illegal, do you really think he'd admit to ANYONE that his wife beat the hell out of him when his construction co-workers asked what happened? I don't think so.
Mrs. ADHD says you should do "all of the above." She also said he could've just taken the tickets and given them to you and still stayed home with Noah.
Sorry, Mr. B&G, but you get the FAIL award of the day.
And I'm an ex-picksburger and NEVER miss a game even 1,000 miles away. So I have stake in this thing...
Thanks Dr. Dave and Mrs. ADHD! I guess just giving me the tickets made too much sense for someone who evidently has none.
He thinks it's gonna be cold OUTSIDE tonight???
Odie: You read my mind, sweetheart! I just have to wait for the kids to go to bed. No witnesses.
I'll be an intelligent guy, and say whichever makes you the most happy is the one you should choose.
I'll also say to Bunni if she's a Bears fan... sorry for your inheritance. I'm a Broncos fan and trust me, Jay Cutler is not the next coming of John Elway. He's got one hell of an arm, but he's extremely prone to throwing behind the receiver or overthrowing, and once he gets rattled he's a head-case.
We Broncos fans (at least those of us with desires for our team to win) are glad to be rid of him, and Kyle Orton's doing a pretty darned good job for a guy that nobody thought was much of anything!!
Soloman: Now THAT'S an answer I can appreciate! lol
Look, speaking as a guy. C is jut completely over the top.
When we mess up we would much rather take a well deserved beating as proposed in option "a" than ever go through the insuffereable cruelty of what you propose in option "C".
be careful with option "B" if he is similar to many men he may take that as gentle foreplay leading up to proposed activity from action "C"
after all he was being thoughtless and clueless which is easy to do with a Y chromosome. He was not being spiteful or cruel.
KOOK!!! How ya been, hon?
The only problem with (c) is that my needs fall by the wayside also. I'm REALLY kinda digging (a).
He may have been thoughtless and clueless, but you'd think after almost 19 years together he'd know better when it comes to Steeler football.
I still feel like slapping the stupid right outta him.
I do not involve myself in the affairs of others' households. However, you could give him the option of obtaining steelers playoff tickets (they will get in) or face the consequences. Look, I doubt the browns will be much competition for the Steelers. The Browns aren't the type of team to beat the Steelers yet. I think the Steelers' D will shut the Browns down. The Steelers have peaked and aren't as good as last year or before. The Browns are improving some, but are not a proven consistent winning team. If the browns don't play a perfect game, they will get their rears handed to them. The Steelers are going to be grumpy after a less than perfect start to the year. I would want tickets to a Steelers vs (pick any good team). Besides, I have been to many sporting events, and football is better on TV. If your stadium is as big as "landshark" where the Fins and the U play in Miami, you cant see the whole game unless you are at midfield, towards the front. Now, the best football stadium I have been to is Nashville where the Titans play. They shaped the seating around the field so that you can see the the entire game from anywhere. Now if I'm going to a sporting event, I'd rather go to Bristol for a night race, or go see the Miami Heat play basketball, but that's just me. I know my examples of teams and places are far from who you would see where you live. Still, can you tell me that you will never get another chance to see the Steelers play??? My cousins in Nashville are huge Steelers fans and they get Steelers tix whenever. They go see them once or twice a year in Pittsburg too. Now if they can get them in Nashville, I would think you could get them there. So I am just asking, are you overdoing this just a tad? (I bet I will get an earfull for this but at least I was honest)
Andrew: The issue here wasn't the tickets, it was the fact that he decided FOR ME that I wasn't going. Like I said, I could've very easily found someone to go with me. But he decided that since HE wasn't going, then neither was I. Sorry, but that's just rude and flat out wrong.
