Finally. A little time to breathe and assure those of you who may have been wondering where I've been that I'm still alive and kicking.
I've been working and preparing for the holidays. Not an easy feat for even the most organized of people, and I am definitely not one of those people. I'm more of the fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants type.
Wednesday night, I discovered that I'm having a very hard time playing nice with others at work. You see, I'm one of a dying breed of worker in this country. I go to work with the attitude that I treat my place of employment as if I owned it. I'm not bossy, but I take my job, no matter how menial, extremely serious. Call it a quirk on my part. I actually care about these places when I'm there, and I try to do my part to make the business succeed. Unfortunately, not everyone sees things this way.
I discovered that night that the scheduling is being done by a bartender and a waitress. I'm sorry, but that just isn't right. They are not management, and I resent the fact that I've got peers with no real authority telling me when I'm working. I got even more pissy when I saw that my hours have been cut already for the new schedule. Needless to say, I'm not a happy camper. Meeting already on tap with my connections. ;-)
While the majority of employees are great to work with and have a sense of teamwork, there are those select few who just don't get it, and it drives me nuts. I've seen them walk by a table that needs cleared without grabbing anything from it because "it's not their table." Well, holy crap on a popsicle stick! So frickin' what??? It's called TEAMWORK you idiots! Pick up a couple of dirty dishes, put them in the dirty dish bin for the dishwasher, and go about your business. Not rocket science!
I've also come to learn which employees I work well with and which ones are gonna give me a migraine. Last night, we had the dream team. Great night at work. Tonight, I've got two waitresses working with me. It's gonna be a 50% night. Both nice girls personally, one is a hell of a worker while the other... Let's just say that she is an extra set of hands.
On top of all this drama, I get to come home and work some more. Heaven forbid the dishwasher get loaded or dirty clothes put in a basket. Nope. We'll let the wife/Mom do it. Another push toward the edge. In fact, I came home about midnight last night, got up at 7 a.m. this morning, loaded the dishwasher, working on my second load of laundry, made breakfast for the cherubs, and took out the garbage. Now, it's about 10:30 a.m. my time, and take a wild stab in the dark as to who is STILL IN BED. I'm not dealing well with this, and I'm feeling pretty unappreciated right now. Looks like a B & G meltdown is in order.
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and that God continues to bless all of you. I'm sorry that I didn't get to say that before Thursday, but I will say that you were all in my thoughts and prayers. I've truly been blessed by God for sending yinz into my life.
Well, it's time to do more laundry duty before going to work tonight. I just hope tonight isn't a complete bust. I better check my Xanax supply just in case.

Tell me about stupid, lazy, clueless co-workers. At least you have a few that are OK.
I was wondering where you've been, you missed my super great Thanksgiving post.
I hope yours was good. Bye, Bunni
I hope your work goes more smoothly in the future! I KNOW how frustrating it can be! Do you know the movie, "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"? Do you remember the famous line, "Morons! I've got morons on my team!" Believe me, that comes to my mind SEVERAL times a week...
The reason I stopped by your blog was this:

When I saw it, I thought of you. There aren't too many of my blogging buds who are as "football minded" as myself...especially a woman! (Loving it...) Anyway, enjoy. I know you will.
I thought you worked for a relative? Can you talk tot he owner?
Hang in their, B&G. I'm lucky I have a one person department (me) but then that means I have to do everything the 752 vice presidents want from me? My recommendation: Take your frustrations out on the Democrats.
Sounds like you need the same back rub you suggested I needed. Reasons differ, but all the same...
Sorry to hear about the home life issues. Being single I can't say I completely relate, although when I had my ex and her two little angels living with me and I drew the only income, still cooked dinner half the week, had to vacuum 'cause she was "tired and sore" ... you get the idea.
I feelz your pain.
And the work thing - we've discussed I did restaurants, so I know exactly what you mean there. That is one business where it's so easy to be a strong link and team player, yet there are so many weak links who are all about the quick cash and the bar scene that night after work...
