Six States May Ignore Federal Health Care Plan

Lawmakers in six states are considering ballot initiatives on the 2010 ballot that would let the voters decide whether they want socialized federally-run health care. Let the people decide their own destiny? What a concept! You would've thought that some long-dead white guys would've come up with an idea like this.

Under Arizona's Health Care Freedom Act, which was passed by the state legislature this week, a voting initiative will be placed on the 2010 ballot that, if passed, will allow the state to opt out of any federal health care plan. Five other states -- Indiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota and Wyoming -- are considering similar initiatives for their 2010 ballots.

"Our health care freedoms are very much at risk by health care reforms proposed in Washington, D.C.," said Arizona state Rep. Nancy Barto, the Republican legislator who sponsored the measure. "We needed to act as a state to protect our citizens and ensure that they will always be able to buy their own health care and not be forced into a plan they don't want."

But an opponent of the bill, state Rep. Phil Lopes, says the measure has less to do with individual freedom and more to do with the protecting the status quo. "The proponents of this are saying the system we have now works and we don't want any kind of reform," the Democratic legislator said. "This flies in the face of what the public tells us they want."

Where the hell did he get that??? People from coast to coast are screaming about how they DON'T want the federal government limiting and rationing care. The only "public" Mr. Lopes, the Dems, and the MSM media are listening to are the ones who want government to coddle them from birth to death. And the liberals in Congress are doing what the hell they want, and the people be damned.

On the side note of cap-and-trade,I've commented on other blogs today that I emailed my representative this morning, but my representative is John Murtha. At least if this hideous legislation passes, my conscience will be clear knowing I did something, no matter how small.

Montana: Gun Safe Zone

Montana has joined Texas and Alaska in passing legislation to keep the Federal Government out of the Second Amendment.

The law basically says that if a gun is going to stay within the borders of that state, the federal government has no business in the matter. The Tenth Amendment: IT'S ALIVE!!!

"What's going on is that people all over the country have decided, 'Enough is enough,' " said Kevin Gutzman, a professor at Western Connecticut State University and the author of "Who Killed the Constitution?" "This is supposed to be a federal system, but instead Congress seems to think it can legislate anything it wants."

Gun-control groups have blasted the law. Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, called it "wrong from the constitutional side and wrong from the policy side." Sit down and shut up, Mr. Helmke.

There's Hope for Pennsylvania!!

Politico.com is reporting that Pennsylvania is joining the growing list of states whose Republican legislative members are introducing bills to exercise a state's rights under the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution. WOO HOO!!!!

State Representative Sam Rohrer (R) has led the way for Pennsylvania to assert itself in the dictation of its own affairs. The Tenth Amendment allows for states to invoke sovereignty over those matters not spelled out in the U.S. Constitution. While we would still have to deal with whatever Democrat or RINO occupies the Governor's office in Harrisburg (a true Republican would stand a snowball's chance at being elected governor), at least the federal government would be told to kiss off.

“This administration has the ability to stick it in the eye of the states and to really pointedly attempt to undo everything that’s been in place,” Rohrer said. “They want to throw Reaganomics out; they want to step in and tell companies what they can or can’t do.”

Pennsylvania would join Idaho, South Carolina, North Dakota, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, and other states whose people have had enough in combating intrusive actions by the federal government. In fact, Texas and Georgia have gone so far as to start talking secession.

I think the clouds have parted and the angels are singing over Pennsylvania today.
